William Russell Geist[1] (born May 3, )[2][3] is an American television personality and journalist. He is co-anchor of MSNBC's Morning Joe and anchor of Sunday Today with Willie Geist. Geist also frequently serves as a fill-in anchor on both the weekday edition and the Saturday edition of Today. Geist is a correspondent for NBC News and NBC Sports, hosting and contributing to NBC's Olympic coverage. Geist has hosted the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks and Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting on NBC.

As the son of broadcast reporter Bill Geist, it was presupposed that Willie Geist would become a recognizable face on television. It was sports, however, that appealed to the younger Geist. The 6'4" Geist showed talent in football and basketball, but he fell short in both during college. He finally chose to follow in his father's footsteps bygd studying journalism, but kept his focus on sports, beginning his career editing at CNN Sports Illustrated.
