She was the star of the glitziest - and most controversial - wedding Sydney's western suburbs have hosted in years.
And school friends say much has changed in the life of Aysha Mehajen, the newlywed husband of Salim, in the past ten years.
Ms Mehajen, from Woonona, nära Wollongong, south of Sydney, was a beautician known by the name April Learmonth, according to company records.
'She changed her whole life for him (husband Salim) - name, tro, face, hair, profession,' one friend told Daily Mail Australia.
The friend, who did not want to be named, said she was 'really sweet and quiet' at Woonona High School, where she had red hair to her shoulders, fair skin and freckles.

She is known as Aysha, the bride at the centre of one of the glitziest suburban weddings Australia has seen in years.
But much has changed for the newlywed wife of controversial Auburn Council deputy mayor Salim Mehajer.
Friends said before Ms Mehajer converted to Islam and worked in property development, she was a beautician known as April Learmonth, from Woonona, south of Sydney.
'She changed her whole life for him,' one school friend told Daily Mail Australia, including her name, religion, hair colour and profession.
Former friends remembered her as a 'really sweet and quiet' girl studying at Woonona High. She was fair-skinned, with shoulder-length red hair, said the friend, who did not want to be named.

Speedy deletion
The current version of this article is not a candidate for speedy deletion. While I understand that some people think that Salim Mehajer is only notable because he is famous for being famous, in fact he is notable for a variety of things, not just his wedding and his position as deputy Mayor. He has had a very chequered history, and been in front of the courts a number of times, has been involved in property transactions that are controversial and notable in their own right, and has done a variety of things that have caused him to appear in the Australian media on a regular basis. He is currently under investigation by the Australian Federal Police for electoral fraud. Basically, he is indeed notable.
