    Omar Sy (French pronunciation:[ɔmaʁsi], Fula: 𞤌𞤥𞤢𞤪 𞤅𞤭, romanized:&#;Omar Si; born 20 January ) is a French actor, best known in France for his sketches with Fred Testot on the Service après-vente des émissions television show on Canal+ (–). He gained wider recognition for his role in the comedy-drama film Intouchables, which earned him the César Award for Best Actor, making him the first Black recipient. He later appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past (), Jurassic World (), Two Is a Family (), Chocolat (), Inferno (), Transformers: The Last Knight (), the Netflix-produced series Lupin (–present), Jurassic World Dominion and The Takedown ().[2]

    The fourth of eight children,[3] Sy was born on 20 January in Trappes in the Yvelines department of the Île-de-France region.[2] Both his parents are immigrants from West Africa.[3] His Mauritanian mother, Dia

    The son of immigrants from West Africa, Sy was born in Trappes, a banlieue in the western part of the Paris storstads- area. He initially rose to prominence in the sketch comedy show Service après-vente des émissions, in which he starred alongside Fred Testot. Sy achieved international recognition for his performance in the hit The Intouchables, winning the César award for best actor. He has since divided his time between French films such as Samba, Chocolat and Tirailleurs and Hollywood productions including X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jurassic World and Transformers: The Last Knight. Having learned to speak English after his success with The Intouchables, Sy moved from Paris to Los Angeles, where he currently lives with his family.[1][2][3]

    Omar Sy (born 20 January ) is a French actor and comedian. He is best known in France for his duo with Fred Testot, Omar et Fred, and for his role in The Intouchables. Internationally, he is known for his roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past and Jurassic World.[1]

    Sy received a César Award for Best Actor on 24 February for his role in The Intouchables and in doing so also became the first actor of African descent to win the French award.

    Sy is a Muslim.[2] His parents are both immigrants from West Africa.[2]
