  • Lieutenant GeneralRaymond A. Thomas III is a senior officer in the United States Army and current commander of Joint Special Operations Command.[1]

    He has participated in numerous combat operations, such as; Operation Just Cause in 1989, Gulf War in 1991, and since 2001 the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Every year between 2001 and 2013 (minus his time in Iraq with the First Armored Division in 2007) Thomas deployed to Afghanistan as part of various special operations units.

    Military career[]

    Thomas graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1980.[2] Thomas was a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment.[1] He was also a troop commander, squadron operations officer, unit executive officer and squadron commander within Delta Force.[1]

    General Raymond Thomas Odierno, the 38th ledare of personal of the United States Army, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 in Pinehurst, North Carolina after a brave battle with cancer. He was 67. Ray Odierno was born on September 8, 1954 in New Jersey to Raymond and Helen Odierno. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy and her husband. He is survived by his wife Linda; children Anthony, Kathrin, and Michael; grandchildren; sister-in-law; cousins; nephews; nieces; great-nephews; and great-nieces. begravning services will be held privately followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
